I LOVE KICKY HOPKINS!!!! That Let it Rock collection is amazing and he is a key reason for sure. I bet if Nicky didn't have the health problems he had then he would have played with Jerry for longer. I think he had Crohns Disease or something like that which made it hard for him to be on the road but I sure wish there was more of that stuff.

I think the fist time I saw Nicky Hpokins was w/ Jeff Beck w/Rod Stewart at the Fillmore East. Then you see him w/ the Stones on most of their early 70 tours and finally out to California to somehow join up w/ Jerry and possibly Ron Tutt of Elvis' band playing drums .I thought Nicky was exremely fluent and had an easy style that also could carry solos and not get lost. For pure professional or classically trained piano player you would have to stick w/ Keith.
